Nicole Shanahan, LMHC

Nicole is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC). She works at Family Counseling Associates but will be available to our patients due to our recent partnership. Nicole provides counseling to individuals, couples, and families ages 3+ years. Her modality of treatment is diverse as she utilize various strength-based approaches including; Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Expressive/Art Therapy, Parent-Child Interaction Therapy and Play Therapy. Her focus is to provide therapy to those experiencing trauma, anxiety, depression, LGBT, and family/relationship issues. Her approach to therapy is to develop a therapeutic relationship in a safe and supportive environment; while working collaboratively towards growth.

Nicole received a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Salem State University and a Master’s of Science degree from State University of New York at New Paltz (SUNY) in Mental Health Counseling. During her Master’s program at Suny New Paltz, she served as a Graduate Assistant of Student Activities and the College Counseling Center; providing individual and group therapy for adjustment and sexuality issues. She has extensive experience working with individuals and families in a variety of settings consisting of; home-based, school-based, college-based, outpatient facilities, and inpatient facilities. Nicole has the ability to collaborate with community and state agencies, mental health providers, and medical providers to provide optimal care.

Amanda Nortrup, LICWS

Amanda Nortrup is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) providing individual therapy services to children, adolescents, young adults, and adults at Family Counseling Associates. She understands each client is unique and requires a personalized approach to treatment. She uses a warm, judgement free approach to empower her clients to explore their concerns, develop skills, and reach their goals. Amanda graduated with her B.A. in Psychology from UMass Boston in 2012, and her Master of Social Work degree with a concentration of children, youth, and families from Boston College in 2015. Prior to joining FCA, Amanda worked in a wide range of clinical settings which allowed her to work with individuals and families as they cope with mental health concerns, substance abuse, behavioral health, life transitions, grief, and end of life issues.
